It is with sadness we announce the passing Thursday, July 14, of Maggie Frost, host of “The Morning Mix”.  Maggie’s last day on air hosting “The Morning Mix” was April 26 when she took a leave of absence to care for her ailing husband.  During that time, she was diagnosed with a health condition which eventually took her life.

Maggie joined WCMY radio in the fall of 2016 as the host of “The Afternoon Drive” and immediately jumped into all facets of the station including “Freezin’ For A Reason” and the annual 4-H Fair broadcasts.  As changes in the on-air host lineup occurred, she moved into the late morning program slot which she helped create – “The Morning Mix” weekdays from 10:00 am to Noon.  In addition, she co-hosted the last hour of “The Morning Meeting” with Jay LeSeure.  All of Maggie’s on-air and community involvement with the Station resulted in many memorable hours of Great Local Radio.

Maggie was instrumental in bringing local stories to the airwaves with interviews following the Naplate/Ottawa tornadoes, floods, and the impact on schools and public services during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Away from the Station, Maggie’s love of the theatre took her to the stage in performances at many LaSalle County venues and associations with several local theatre groups.

She also was a friend to pets, especially cats. She had a brood she called “The Frost Five”.

A number of individuals agreed, Maggie’s personality was bright and bubbly and was a great addition to the Station.  Kathy Missel, former Market General Manager and close friend shared, “one day I got this text from her…’Every once in a while I think to myself, this is what you were born to do… I have you to thank for that!’  She was simply the best.”

Our deepest sympathies go out to Maggie’s family.
