NRG Media’s KLIN, in Lincoln, received FOUR first place awards from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association in the annual Eric Severaid competition. KLIN won first place in the following categories:
- Newscast – Second year in a row
- Sportscast/Program – Friday Morning Tailgate: “Storytime with Stai” (third year in-a-row)
- Hard Feature – “Focal Point – Prison Overcrowding” (Kellan Heavican)
- Soft Feature – “Focal Point – Stuck in the Middle” (Kellan Heavican)
In addition, KLIN received the “Award of Merit” for spot news coverage.
The Eric Sevareid Awards are named for the North Dakota-born journalist best known for his work as a correspondent for CBS Radio and Television. Each year, the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association presents awards to the best work done by broadcast news operations and journalists working the six-state region of Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
