NRG Media – Lincoln’s KLIN teamed up with sister station 1620 The Zone to do everything in their power to reverse the fortune of the area’s beloved Husker football team, even if it meant invoking the supernatural.  The Break the Curse Event was a pep rally, concert, and ceremony at Lincoln’s Haymarket Park drawing over 200 Husker fans eager to help ‘break the curse’.  The evening included live radio from 1620 The Zone’s Unsportsmanlike Conduct, live music from The Killigans and the Big Red Alumni Pep Band, and attempts to do anything and everything to break any curses which might exist, from soaking jerseys in salt water to spreading dirt from Buck Beltzer field in the area even bringing the old Herbie Husker mascot back to life (which has been hibernating in part-time KLIN staff member Chris Lofgreen’s storage).  The evening concluded with a bonfire allowing attendees to ceremonially burn their own memories and relics of the ‘curse era’.
